V\u00e4tgasindustrin har som ambition att producera 38 miljoner ton fossilfri v\u00e4tgas \u00e5r 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00f6r att det ska kunna ske beh\u00f6ver man emellertid skala upp tillverkningen av elektrolys\u00f6rer rej\u00e4lt. Och d\u00e5 framf\u00f6r allt PEM-elektrolys\u00f6rer, som anses vara den b\u00e4sta tekniken i kombination med f\u00f6rnybar el fr\u00e5n vind och sol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dilemmat \u00e4r att en PEM-elektrolys\u00f6r anv\u00e4nder iridiumpartiklar som katalysatorer p\u00e5 anodsidan i elektrolys\u00f6rcellen. En extremt dyr \u00e4delmetall. Iridiumbel\u00e4ggningen \u00e4r idag ca 2,0 mg\/cm2 och v\u00e4tgasbranschen har som m\u00e5l att, till 2030, minska bel\u00e4ggningen till endast 0,1 mg iridium per cm2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Annars blir kostnaden f\u00f6r PEM elektrolys\u00f6rer f\u00f6r h\u00f6g.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e4ngden iridium i elektrolys\u00f6ren m\u00e5ste dessutom minska om man \u00f6verhuvudtaget ska kunna skala upp tillverkningen av elektrolys\u00f6rer, eftersom det helt enkelt inte finns tillr\u00e4ckligt med iridium att bryta om man forts\u00e4tter med dagens iridiumbel\u00e4ggning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enligt tyska Fraunhofers rapporter finns dock en f\u00f6rhoppning om att man fram\u00e5t 2030 ska kunna komma ner till 0,8 mg iridium\/cm2. Men f\u00f6r att minska iridiumm\u00e4ngden ytterligare &#8211; och n\u00e5 m\u00e5let om 0,1 mg\/iridium\/cm2 &#8211; kr\u00e4vs helt ny bel\u00e4ggningsteknik.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nanoteknik kan minska iridium-bel\u00e4ggningen markant<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nanoteknikbolaget Smoltek Hydrogen har dock hittat en l\u00f6sning p\u00e5 iridium-problematiken. Detta kommer \u00e4ven gynna oss i v\u00e5ra dialoger med t\u00e4nkta partners f\u00f6r tillverkning av v\u00e5rt material f\u00f6r iridiumbel\u00e4ggning, s\u00e4ger Ellinor Ehrnberg, vd f\u00f6r Smoltek Hydrogen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Genom att markant minska iridiumbel\u00e4ggningen blir kostnaden f\u00f6r elektrodmaterialet tiotusentals kronor billigare per kvadratmeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dessutom kan Smoltek Hydrogens bel\u00e4ggningsteknik \u00f6ka kapaciteten per yta i cellen genom att anv\u00e4nda l\u00e4ngre fibrer. Det kan l\u00e5ta paradoxalt, men med l\u00e4ngre fibrer kan mer iridium bel\u00e4ggas och p\u00e5 s\u00e5 vis kan man minska antalet celler i elektrolys\u00f6ren.
