F\u00f6retaget har en stark bakgrund inom halvledarteknik och fokuserar nu p\u00e5 att bredda sin teknologi under ledning av teknikchef Fabian Wenger och Ellinor Ehrnberg. PEM-elektrolys\u00f6rer kan startas och stoppas snabbt, vilket g\u00f6r dem idealiska f\u00f6r anv\u00e4ndning med f\u00f6rnybara energik\u00e4llor som vind- och solkraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-utmaningar-med-iridium\">Utmaningar med iridium<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En stor utmaning inom branschen \u00e4r anv\u00e4ndningen av iridium som katalysator i PEM-elektrolys\u00f6rer. Iridium \u00e4r dyrt och s\u00e4llsynt, med en global produktion p\u00e5 endast 9 ton per \u00e5r. Smoltek har utvecklat en teknik som minskar m\u00e4ngden iridium med upp till 95% genom att anv\u00e4nda kolnanofibrer p\u00e5 titanmetall ist\u00e4llet f\u00f6r plastmembran.
