Today, a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by six leading organizations from Finland, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, and Ukraine, marking a significant step toward strengthening energy security and regional competitiveness within the Baltic Sea region and beyond.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signatories, H2Cluster Finland, Hydrogen Sweden, the Estonian Association of Hydrogen Technologies, the Latvian Hydrogen Association, the Ukrainian Hydrogen Association, and Nexus in Poland, represent the forefront of hydrogen innovation in the region. This MoU underscores the shared commitment to unlocking the potential of clean hydrogen as a critical energy carrier, capable of meeting 15-20% of Europe\u2019s future demand while generating new employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new chapter in regional energy cooperation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The signing of the MoU builds on a long-standing collaboration within the Baltic Sea region\u2019s energy and hydrogen sector, which began in 2016. Over the years, this cooperation has expanded to include more countries and organizations, reflecting the region\u2019s growing importance in Europe\u2019s transition to clean energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Baltic Sea region has the capacity to become a key supplier of clean hydrogen at a competitive cost, supporting Central Europe\u2019s urgent need for affordable and sustainable energy solutions,\u201d said Bj\u00f6rn Aronsson, Managing Director, Hydrogen Sweden. \u201cThis agreement is a testament to our commitment to a greener, more secure energy future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU will be carried out with inspiration from the BaSeH2 project, supported by funding from the Swedish Institute (SI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine\u2019s inclusion in this cooperation highlights its pivotal role in Europe\u2019s energy landscape. As a country with vast renewable energy potential, Ukraine\u2019s active participation underscores the region\u2019s commitment to supporting energy security and economic recovery through sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
